Dear friends,

How is life? Mine is exciting.. some called it stress ...... ...
Some trying to cope up with mid life crisis at my age.
Getting old too... tend to be forgetful...
Luckily still got the drive to do the thing ......
......... I mean play sport lah ... then what? I am still going strong !!!!

Well..... after this short one week school vacation, our twins will be sitting for their PSLE exam in one month time.
Are they ready? Search me... I dun think so...
Others are pouring over their books and reviewing their assessments, ours are busy playing the new DVD video camera and their sister laptop. Always want to go out of the house, go to the pool, ...

Imagine ... re-playing the same few videos that they have taken many times over. If they channel the same effort to their school work, I am more than happy...

Hey.. my eldest daughter, Ivfen is doing her revision and preparing herself for her secondary exam.
To think of it .... all 3 came from the same stomach; same source .???...

That's my elder daugther, Ivfen Foong Mun Yee now in MGS, Secondary 2.
She is coping well with her school work despite all the distraction of ECA.

She loves tennis and most ball games...

Guess she has the most of my genes.. sporting genes...

Well time to rest as i am planning to watch tonight games ..European Cup qualifier.

A very good evening to all:

Just came back from a good game of pickle ball at Clementi C C .
Man.. it so tired! And I played only 4 games: started 6 pm to 8.45 pm.
Tired but very happy. I have one good game and I think I did my best.
We won 15-13.. that close!!

I will try to go every Thursday at Clementi and every Tuesday at Bukit Batok.
Friends...nothing beats a good workout and losing 1 kg. Wow!!
But again I wallop 1 plates of noodles, 1 bowl of chicken soup, 1 piece of fried fish and 1 cup of tea with milk by 10 pm. Guess all efforts came to naught in term of weight loss!! ( sign sign)

So good night and I will definitley have a good sleep and sweet dream...

World Cup verus red eyes

Hi.. I am back after 3 weeks of weary and tiring campaign... watching the world cup.
It is now 66 minutes between Portugal and France with the Les Bleu leading through a penalty by Zidane. But Portugal is getting more of the possession and Ronaldo is showing his magic again and again. Hope that the French aged legs can stand up to it.

Hey wait... everytime

fast forward... it's full time!! The aged French has triumped over the young guns from Portugal.
It is Italy verus Fracne on Suuday. Guess I will sleep very early on Sunday night so that I can wake up on Monady 3 am... and still have enough energy to fight the Monday blues... guess it is the Le Blues will win !!

See all at the Stadium !!!

PS: 2 cups of hot ginseng tea ( to stay awake), 2 pieces of toothpicks ( to pry my eyes open) and my blooster/pillow so that I can hit the sack once the game is over...

Champion League Final

Hi folks:

My cough is gone! Yipeeeeee !!

Thanks to the good rest and numerous medical helps. Now I must eat less chilli stuff, drink less cold water, sleep early, excercise more, play games ... what? This mean road to boredoom and probably death??

I will instead take things easy, laugh more and work less... and prepare to watch the European Cup final between Barcelona and Arsenal on 18th May at 0245 am. Should I take leave on 18th too? I may be young at heart but the body does not lie...

Decision decision decision ...

Now I am talking.... at 0.5 ball to Arsenal, I will take the gunners. Why?
First, it is play in Paris... Manager Arsene Wenger is French, Thiery Henry is French, so are some of the other players: Mathieu Flamini, Robert Pires, Clichy, Senderos... And teh other "french connection" :Kolo Toure and Eboue; both from French Ivory Coast who qualified for the World Cup in Germany for first time. I am sure that they are in upbeat mood.

Then they have the Spanish connections to un-lock the Barca and send the Spanish Fly... flying ......Cesc Fabregas, ... and Joses Reyes!

Man... this Spanish is in top form. Last night against Man City, he scored 2 goals within 5 minutes of coming in as a subsitute. And take note ....both goals assisted by a French man: Henry and the old faithful Robert Pires.

And there is also this young flying Dutch man Van Perce and the non-flying Dutch man Dennis Berkamp.

How about young German Hleb and the old but speedy Ljungberg ?

More: the return of Ashley Cole at left back is timely. Arsenal backline is so stingy for such a long time. Eto'o may not have his chance so easy.

If you are talking about the expected dazzling performance from Barcelona's Ronaldinho, the 2 times world player of the year from Brazil...then think Brazilian again.

Gilberto Silva! Wow.. he has stepped into Patrick Viera shoes neatly and I am sure he can neutralise the bunny-teeth Ronaldinho. It takes a thief to catch a thief; or in this case, a Brazilian to catch a Brazilian.

So book your seat in front of the box; stock up your beer and snacks... Paris here I come..

Persistent coughing

Hi ( cough..cough ) ..
It's been 3 weeks since I got this xxxx virus that got me coughing. I have been to a Thai doctor, a GP and finally today I went to Polyclinic.
To be fair, the doctors are doing their best. May be the hetic of going overseas. The fourth doctor a.k.a. my wife insisted that I have not enough rest. But I usually sleep before 11 pm local time. May be its the pressurised cabin of the aeroplane and the hours of travelling in a car almost everyday.
No complain though. The old saying over-rides: No work, no money. No money, expenses outstanding. That's the way of life...
Not that my wife is disturbing me ( you know what I mean); just that I am stuck to the T.V. watching EPL and the regular out-stationed.
Hey.. to think of it,my soccer watching does not go into the wee hours. I have already skipped the 3 a.m. champion league games since the last 2 years. Not that I am determine or stick to the doctors instruction of good rest. It is just that I can't wake up at that hours to watch the game. Not anymore. Sign of old age?
I am given loads of medicine by the Polyclinic's doctor today and I will get all posted if it works. ( hemm..hemm.. ). He has refused to give me an x-ray as I am not deem serious enough to use this tax-payer's subsidised expenses. Should I worry about my lungs?
For record purpose, I have tried fired rice with fresh ginger without oil. Grandma's remedy that supposed to bring the wind out of your body. Did it work huh? Not really! May be mine is not a "cold" cough. Mine is a " hot" cough or "heatiness".
I have also drunk many cups of the traiditonal "cool and bitter" medicine. And the trusted " Pi Pa Gao". They both work for a while...
Meanwhile I am going to have a good rest as instructed by the fourth doctor and take my anti-biotic to the end... meaning must finished the whole course.
Nite nite and to all parents... good luck to school SA 1.

Good evening all bunnies...oops.. I mean all of my friends;
Sorry that I started with the bunnies. I should have started with chocolate or Easter eggs.. What a mess!
2 days ago, I received a mail from Ricky after he read my blog which featured him at the piano while I pretended to sing. Sound like he enjoy it too! Well.. may be he like his professional look; playing the piano on the web... may be??

Ok.. this is a picture of the horse riding that we did at SuZhou. Introducing Raymond, my colleague who went with me to our branch in Jiangxi. Isn't he look like a pro? Or is he trying to sweet-talk the horse into submission? Your guess is as good as mine.

Now you know. Raymond is a pro! He got the horse under his command. Hey, he even has the cheek to wave good bye to me... arrghh...my horse is still stubbornly standing still and looking at the far horizon. Wonder what is it thinking? Its missing horse girl friend?
Finally the owner came to my rescue. " Give it a slight kick on its side". "Pull right to go right, pull left to go left", "pull the rein back and it will stop"..
Ohh ! ha ha ! I got it! and off we went.. gallop, gallop, gallop...
bye bye see you guys next Easter...

Hello all soccer fan:

It's EPl time once again. After the furry of Champion League these weekdays that just passed, we are upon our toes trying to pick the winner of this weekend EPL.

Spur should beat Man City by 2 goal margin; pushing themselves the fourth qualifying spot fo rnext year Champion League.
Everton will win Charlton by the odd goal; as usual.
Portmouth should beat B/burn at home to ease relegation worries.
Sunderland, down and out will drew with away-winless Fulham; probably scoreless.
Wigna will keep the underdog flag flying high by adding B'ham woes to relegation.
Villa may lost to W. Bromich as they are too eratic to predict any outcome.
Chelsea against W Ham, London derby. At 1.5 goals, I bet W. Ham but they will lose by 2-1 with old man Sheringham scoring from the penalty spot. May be another Chelsea player will be shown the red card.

Pool should beat Bolton whose arrays of nationalities are still finding their feet. Pool by 1-0.
Boro v Newcastle = boring, scoreless draw.

Ha ha ha,, this is the one: Man utd against Arsenal. The young guns are still fresh from reaching the semi-final of the Champion League after a scoreless draw at Juventus. Still after travelling to Italy and with only 3 days rest, the odd is against them. But the young man of Arsenal will go down fighting. No serious injury and expect Sol Campell to come out and defend as if there is no daylight. 1-1 will be the score. Henry equalised after R. V. Nisteroy opening goal.

So fill up the chips and peanuts bowl, select your favorite seat and click the channel 23 button on the remote. Have a hell of a time. Goalsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss......

Singing in the open

Dear friends;

In one of my blog, I mentioned about the piano placed besides a lake which is part of a horse stable in SuZhou. Remember the owner let newly-wed to take photos with the piano, horses and the beautiful surrounding?

Here is one with me and my good colleague, Ricky re-acting one of the scence from " dun-know-which movie". What do you think? Does this qualified to any photo award? Or maybe even an Oscar for best picture award?

Well, you be the judge. Award or not, I did have a good time riding the horses despite travelling 2 over hours; and the many bumps on my buttock and xxxx. BTW, I was surprised that my thigh, legs and buttock recovered within 1 day and able to walk the normal way.

Oh.. I forgot to mention that on the way to the stable, we had one of the best mutton that I ever tasted. It is in Chang Shu ( literally means "hidden books " in Chinese) where the horse stable is located. We had clear mutton soup, mutton fried in onion, in oyster sauce, with traditional plain noodles. Aaaa ! the noodle is fantastic and we had round 2. Just to remind all, mutton is high in cholestron; so do not eat too much of it.

Our family at Bintan

Hi friends:

This is the latest pic that our family of 5 taken at Bintan. It was during our company's annual trip cum D&D lst Feb 2006. All expenses paid. Isn't is nice? Sun, sea, sand, soveniers, show, games and food. And lucky draw for all staff.... sure to win prizes. Thank you, Mr Ho.

Let you know, the organiser is so thoughtful that they include medical oil, sun shade, towel, and anti-sea sickness pills in the sovenier bags.

The place is nice but a little expensive to my liking. ( Sure hit my pocket when I have to pay S$5 for an hour of table tennis in Bintan. ) But then again, it is for a good time right?

I must thank the organiser again for all the good food and fun. More next year. I dun think anyone mind, right colleagues?

Stress relieve - another good way

When I was in China recently with my colleague, Raymond Lau, we managed to skip for a short trip for horse riding.
In the middle of this marvellous horse stable is a man-made lake.
In the middle of this lake is a white piano.
Story is that the owner is so in love with this palce that he plays his piano and sings to the horses. Not that he is short of suitors; just then he need to have more horses singing in tune with his business. Horse come, work done ( 马到工成）。。may be his philosophy.

Ok... pulling your leg about the owner playing the piano and singing. But the lake and the piano are there ... truely lah　. It is meant to be a back ground for newly-wed to take photos, with the mountain as back ground. A ride on horses too. Handsome prince on horse? ( 白马王子）。　Couple paid about RMB 100 to use the place. Not sure how long but guess enough for taking memory pictures to show their children in the future.

Ｎｉｃｅ view, worth the visit. Only 3000 + km away from Singapore lah...
So what are you waiting for?
BTW, I got a good massage on my " you-know-where" and my buttock after an hour of struggling with my beloved horse. Riding a horse is not like those you see on the current advertisement about some massgae chair. Believe me. For those first timer, pls use 2 pieces of adult daiper to cushion your buttock before climbing up the horse.
This my good friend, Ricky Ho did not tell us.

returning home

Hi to all:
Away for 2 weeks is a long time. Guess all is alright .
FirstI went to PuXi, Shanghai; an industrial park of which our company has its Chinese branch.The first thing about this building is " WOW" ! It is big, clean and look every inch elegant. And the warehouse is big; the free area is vast.
Let you in... the back yard has a nice pond with fishes of course. A summer pavilion and spring shelter compete with the greenery and blossomed flowers for attention. And all this in full view of the reception area and some of the managerial rooms. So... do you like to work there? Position is available for those who are energetic; strive for the best and for course not a softy..hee hee no offence as some will cry for chicken rice and laska just after 1 month; or feel homesick.

Tell you what! PuXi is only 40 minutes from Shanghai city, The Bund ..dun you remember?
The back ground of many movies and songs? Come on... put on your thinking cap..
Shang hai Tang ?? Brother Xu Mun Keong? Ting Le? ha ha remember right?
The view from the city across the river towards the other side is marvellous. Cool breeze splashes cross my face as I recalled the movies " The Bund". I thought I heard gun shots too...... ???? What that's sack of stuff that the sampan are carrying? Ha... optium! Quick run..police is coming ...run run run to the airport.

Then I was back in Singapore to unload my winter clothings and filled my bag with summer's. yes, I headed to Thailand to do my usual rounds at our Thailand branch inSamutprakean. I loved Thai food and walloped all that I can and ...bingo...I felt a big lump in my throat. Next morning I woke up with a running nose and yes you are right, a sore throat. Then it is a visit to the hospital and returned fruitfully.... with 4 bags of medicine. I was advised to take alot of water and good rest. I missed my tennis gathering and ended up with hot porridge for dinner.

Now I am back in Singapore... and with the 4 bags of medicine. Sawadee Krup... and awaiting the Thai election result... Chok dee ....

Pickleball anyone?

Hi all:

After a nice shower, it is refeshing. Was tired after 5 games of pickle ball this evening.
Started playing at 7 pm and last game ended at 9.50 pm.
For those who dun know about pickleball, here is a short introducton:

Play indoor using the badminton court. Single and double boundary lines like badminton.
Scoring by using the 15-points badminton game; serve to score.
Lower badminton net to tennis level; with a 1/2 inch dip in the centre.
Use wooden bat like table tennis but much bigger and stronger.
The ball is made of plastic with holes; a bit like sepak takraw.
First to reach 15 wins the games. :) :)
Service must cross the service line.
Non-volley zone is between the service line and the net.
Bat must be below waist during service.
Then when the ball comes, hit it as hard as possible. :0
You can only smash when standing before the service line ( non-volley zone)
Top spin is an advantage. Under-cut is also recommended.
After the service, the ball msut bounced at least once in your side of the court before hitting the ball. After that, you can hit the ball in mid-air or after one bounce. You lose the point if the ball bounced twice within your side of the court.

Confusing? You bet. I was whacked 15-0 during my very first game. Dun know how to serve and and alway hit the ball before it bounced once during the first return. But now...hee hee. I am much better and hitting the ball well. Still lot to learn on positioning and placing; especially lobbing the ball. The court is too small. At least I dun lose 15-0.

If you have a chance, play this game and you will like it. And you can play it rain or shine.

Sunday past, Monday blue

Can I greet all with a good morning?

Time flies. It's another week gone and school holiday is here.
Ka Kit got to go back to shcool for 2 days of supplementary lessons.
Ivfen as usual returns to school for tennis lessons.
Ka Yee.. hmmm where is she? The usual spot, I guess. Oh.. right.. on the bed, snoring away and still in dreamland.

Today my wife is going ot get those set of test kits which help to detect colon cancer. It costs only $10 and if you are a senior citizen, it is free. See.. I told you that old man can get free thing lor. dun believe?

Yesterday my son and I went to Harbour Front to vist Big for the first time. You dun know what is Big? Well, they advertise Big and the place is real big. Huge if I may expand the space. From electrical items, furniture, elecronic, mobile phones, car accessories to household utensils, you name it, they got it.
I saw one Plasma TV that costs only S$2399; and it is 42 inches. Salesman claimed that the screen is manufactured in Korea ( home of the palsma screen) and the TV is made in China. Beside it, is another LCD TV also from China and costs the same. I am not into plasma and LCD TV, but I wonder why the same price? Can anyone enlighten me on the difference? I may switch to this cheap brand as it comes with 2 years agent guarantee. Worth trying or not?
Or should I wait for any promotion to trade-off my current 43 inch projection TV since World Cup is on the way?

Decision, decision, decision... life is full of s**t decision. Not as though my life depends on it... or is it ? It never cross my mind that I will miss this year world cup in June. And it is during the school vacation. After this soccer mega event, I think I will hang up my boots ... oops.. I mean cancel my cable TV. Reason? save cost ( bullshit lah)... Actually it's my twins PSLE and the major soccer games are over. So to give up cable does not put me in cold turkey. And importantly, it makes my wife at ease. Smart move,uh? I will be a good daddyand a considerate hubby.... hoorray !

Time to stop. BTW, Arsenal beats Liverpool 2-1, the second Henry's goal was a result of a sloppy back pass from Pool's captain, Steve Gerald. What a shame!
Man Utd kept a tight hold of second place with a 2-0 win over New Castle.
Charlton 2, Boro 1.

Sunday night

Good evening to all:

It's nice to feel good after a full stomach. My, my..... my weight is now over by 2 kgs. Haven't start controlling myself since Chinese New Year. Last night BBQ topped it all. 5 chicken wings, countless sticks of satays, 1 ketaput, 3 O-tah, about 8 fishballs, some sting rays, many cups of orange juice, 8 to 10 prawns... so how to reduce wieght?

Things went well last night. Weather perfect. Pool is not crowded. Kids played to their usual limited ( no tired, no goodbye.) One funny things happen though.

My youngest brother, Kong ( actually he no young, he is 41) fell into the pool while trying to show off his fancy tricks on frisbees. See... there were these group of young girls ( not ladies) at the pool, so he try to twist the frisbee with his fingers and ... da da da ta... he slipped and fell into the pool. All wallet, mobile phone, bermudas and shirt went diving. And we all laugh and clap no stop. Man... how embrassing.. if our father is there, he will be banished to the far end of this country for disgracing the family. Luckily dad came later.

Yes... can't stop adding a bit on EPL. Last nite was a fruitful nite with Bolton and Everton winning. But last grasp thunderbolt by Gallas broke Spur heart. Anyway I did not bet on this game. It was exciting nevertheless even though I watched only the last 10 minutes. ( remember I was at the BBQ pit? ).

tonite: Man Utd verus New Castle. Likely to be a hgh score. Think it will be 2-2. So makan 1 ball and buy big. Charlton v Boro? Scoreless draw. Arsenal v pool? I think this game will be contrary to belif: minimum 3 goals, with Arsenal winning by 2-1.
So what are you waitign for? Grap that chair, beer in hand and peanuts all the way( Hey make sure that the peanuts are not from the $600,000 stock... you can't afford it)

Hi I am back... stay man left and colelct my $$$ ... $$$

Satay count : right.
Ketuput count : right.
Orange juice and cold water: enough.
Ice...yes ice... : prepared.
Chicken wings... seasoned.
Sting rays: got stinged already. Wife chilli sauce ichi-ban.
Sausages ... unpacked. and poked with stick... I love poking.. i mean poking fun ...what do you think I like to poke? huh?
O-tah: counted and wrapping-leaves are in good condition.. ha ha
Noodles; already finished frying.. veggy alot since we got so much meat already.
Portable lamps: ready to plugged in.
Cooler box to keep food fresh and to keep way the flies before we tackle them: cleaned
Trolley to transport the food: cleaned and ready to roll !
Soap and cloth: settled.

Booked table-tennis room ; done. I love teh internet booking. No need to go to the office.

Stomach check: all emptied. Ready to burn at the pit and tehn burn inside the stomach...

Saturday.. what a day... EPL day ...

Hi.. its Saturday!!! I work only half day.... yipee...
Work is going smooth for this week. And as I posted last week, very busy.
Busy means got work... got work means got job ... got job means got money...
You know .. $$$$ ? We need it. More or less.. the basic for some, the goals of many.

This afternoon my whole family ( parents, bro s & sis) will be at my place ( BBQ pit, actually) to roast away all the satays, chicken wings, O-tah, sausages, fishballs and guess what....sting rays with special chiili paste of my wife. To top it up, we are going to whallop the jelly and tit-bits. Orange juice is the order of the evening as far as drinks are concern. may be a little beer. Thou shall not teach kids to drink. Hey... no smoking too... excet that from the BBQ pit.

Kids have invited a few close friends to join in the fun. They called it: After C.A. de-stress. What? de-stress? I have not heard of stress even when I am in secondary 4. They are just in primary 6... oh my my ... Time changes.

Oops... satay man is at the door now to delivery the few hundreds sticks which will be buried in the stomachs of all... hmmm ketuput too... the Malay rice for those who don't know.

Got to go and count the sticks... or should I?
Life is full of questions..... blah blah blah...

PS: Tell you quietly, I am going to sneak back into the house in-between burning to watch EPL. Tell me who can resist Chelsea verus Spur? Not me ! And it is about Champion League next year. More so... it is a London derby... sure got someone send off. May be Essen. Chelsea got player sent off during the game with Barcelona. So... die die must watch ... even bit by bit.
Or may be watch a little. So I will be busy volunteering to pick those items that are forgotten at the pit. That little bottle of chilli sauce... may be even tissue paper.

Will let you know whether I survive a second yellow card.... BTW second yellow means a straight Red... meaning cold turkey for 3 matches.... arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhh ...

D-Day for the twins

I am writing as a stressful father. The C.A. results from my twins are not getting any better. Life is so stressssssful. I think I have to create something to cheer the twins and to cheer my wife and I. Anyone got any suggestion?
Tonite is Champion league football, Liverpool, AC Milan, Bayer Munich, Arsenal, R Madrid, Lyon, PSV Edhivon, Benfica... who will win to go through the semi-final? Tell me quick so that I can place a small bet for a few dollars gain. Can use to buy durian for stress relieve.

Work at the heat treatment plant is busy which is good for me. I hope that we will be kept buzzzy for a long time. And of course no mistake.

My the other job at Thailand is also started to pick up after a slow last month; thanks to our hardworking team at Sin Thai. And pls pray that the political situation in Thailand will be peacefully dilutes.

This Sat at Bukit Timah Pri Sch, Alumni Association wil l be organising a science for parents. Hope that this will help the parents with teh kids science work.

Got to go and bring twins to Maths tution. Arrrggggghh..
And hopefully have a peace of mind.

Kids not doing hoemwork regularly so I oso ganna marked.

Yellow-carded on Sat. May be Red card on Sunday. So got ot skip the late game between Spur and Blackburn. I dun think she will understand that this is a very important game fo rboth teams as it means Champion League football enxt season which brigns in many $$$$.

got to go... kids doing Maths and Eng hoemwork and I got to watch them carefully before the red card flashes at me...

Bintan Island

It's been 2 months over. Guess that I am blogged ( blocked!)
Last week we went to Bintan Island on a company trip at the Nivarna Garden Resort. Met Media Corp artisites filming with the new aspiring.I dun know their name but recognised 2 of the artists.
Our 3 kids have fun building sand-castle while we build dream castle by the pool. Things at the resort are expensive by Indonesia standard; charged in S$.
Now I am back; and my back got sun-burnt. Luckily it is not my wallet that is burnt.

Got to stop;it is Arsenal verus Blackburn. Pls cheer Arsenal to win by 3 goals.
